These initiatives aim to advance therapeutic practices and improve outcomes through international cooperation and shared expertise.

Through these dedicated research and rehabilitation projects, the NeuroMuscular Taping Institute is committed to enhancing healthcare outcomes and quality of life for individuals in need worldwide.

Indications for NMT International Volunteering Training Projects

Volunteering encompasses a wide spectrum of activities aimed at social solidarity and community support, undertaken freely and organized in nature. Originating from Europe in the aftermath of World War I, volunteering merged with cross-cultural exchange efforts to aid in the reconstruction of war-torn regions. Since then, countless international initiatives have evolved, offering tangible acts of solidarity in challenging circumstances, predominantly through development cooperation.

NMT Volunteer Group

The NMT Volunteer Group, a non-governmental organization, directs its efforts towards development aid via medical training services across Southern Hemisphere countries (including Latin America, Africa, and parts of Asia), Central America, and Eastern Europe. Managed by a collaboration of international volunteers, each specializing in medical services and possessing specific professional skills, the group transfers essential know-how to enhance local healthcare services.

Amputation and Phantom Pain Treatment Clinical Trial

Amputation, whether due to accidents, vascular pathologies like diabetes, ulcers, or trauma, is a prevalent issue globally. In the US, there are over 200,000 cases, while Europe sees approximately 250,000 cases. Ethiopia faces a unique challenge with traumatic amputations resulting from war and landmines, contributing significantly to the country’s disability rate. The ongoing conflict has left a generation with disabilities, exacerbating poverty in one of the world’s poorest nations.

Phantom pain, a common and debilitating condition among amputees, remains inadequately addressed by current neurorehabilitative and vascular medicine practices. NeuroMuscular Taping (NMT) introduces a promising approach through its decompressive action on peripheral innervation, showing notable clinical results in phantom pain management. This research study aims to demonstrate the efficacy of NMT rehabilitation in reducing phantom pain and improving social and employment outcomes, thereby enhancing overall quality of life and work capability.
